WEATHER POLICIES
Netball is an all-weather sport and fixtured games will proceed in most weather conditions. Teams must turn up, ready to play.

HOT WEATHER POLICY

Game Start Temperature (30 degrees - 32.9 degrees Celsius)

If the temperature at the start of the game is between 30 degrees and 32.9 degrees, each quarter will be shortened to 8 minutes.

Temperature reaches 33 degrees

If the temperature reaches 33 degrees Celsius, the game will be cancelled.

Cancelled game before halftime

If the game is cancelled before halftime, both teams will be awarded 2 points each.

Cancelled game after halftime (3rd of 4th quarter)

If the game is cancelled during the 3rd or 4th quarter, the score at the time of cancellation will stand as the final score.

Temperature measurement

The temperature will be monitored using data from the Bureau of Meteorology.  Both the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) and the official ambient temperature will be considered, with the higher value being used for decision making.

WET WEATHER POLICY

In the event of extreme wet weather conditions, the On-Duty Supervisor will make a timeslot by timeslot decision and notify Team Managers accordingly.

FAIR PLAY CODE

The Victorian government's new Fair Play Code - a code of conduct for sport and recreation in Victoria - outlines the standards of behaviour expected for everyone involved in sport & recreation.  The Code sends a clear message that bad behaviour, violence, cheating and intimidation has no place in sport.

There are five core values that underpin fair play:

  • integrity

  • respect

  • responsibility

  • fairness

  • safety
